Like many, we at AutoMobilia Resource have been reading about, learning about, and sometimes swearing about the useless, so-called, “digital collectibles” (NFTs – non-fungible tokens), as well as other things in the world of high-tech, Bitcoin, etc. So, to address the NFT crisis head on, we brainstormed over a long period of time… must’ve been a solid 5 minutes, and came up with something that will be available to you, our readers.
We thought since we’re smack in the middle of the collectibles hobby, why not create our own collectible currency-type token?! But a real token, not an NFT, which is only as solid as a ghost. Ours is a Fungible Token, or “FT” for short, and looks suspiciously like a wooden nickel… because they are made of wood.
They’re a limited edition of 1,000, and have two clearly identifiable sides. The front declares a value of $5. The back has a wonderful line drawing of the front of a Rolls-Royce by Joan Klatil Creamer, who was the first woman exteriors designer at GM (see issue #17).
We have to report, that to see how well these work, and being the technical whiz kids that we are, we’ve tried multiple times to use/spend our newly minted FTs through our cell phones, to pay for important things like take-out food deliveries, but no matter how many times we place them on our phones and press the Send button, they just won’t go through! How the heck do those guys at Bitcoin do it? Maybe we need an app? But wait, we have a better plan….
To obtain (or “mine” as it’s called in the digital world) one or more of these super-duper FTs, just find us at an event, and purchase anything at all from our stand, and you will receive one FT free per visit/purchase. 800 of these wonderful new collectible FTs will be given out absolutely free by “mining” in this manner.
To encourage circulation of our new FT, we invite all automobilia vendors, dealers, auction houses, shops and collectors to accept them as payment. To increase their value simply “declare it so,” i.e., “I heard these are now selling for $10 each in the automobilia stock market.”
The remaining 200 FTs will be for sale on our website for only $5 each, no matter how high (or low) their actual value, until gone. This is your ONE AND ONLY opportunity to be a part of this new and great FT collectible currency craze. Remember, your FTs can be kept in your pocket and offered as payment (but not necessarily accepted) practically anywhere automobilia is bought and sold.
