Rudy Le Coadic - Dealing & Collecting Automobilia
Rudy Le Coadic is a former New York City-based fashion photographer, who is now a vintage advertising dealer and collector. He started buying and selling advertising signs over 35 years ago, specializing in tire-related memorabilia. When he retired from photography in 2005 his focus shifted entirely to memorabilia. Later that year he wrote the collecting guide “The Michelin Man, an Advertising Showcase,” published by Schiffer Books. In addition to owning an extensive Michelin collection, he also started collecting pre-war Shell Oil memorabilia in 2021. He sets up at shows mainly on the East Coast with his son Lucas and runs the Instagram page GasAndOilSigns. Reach him at [email protected]
Some of Rudy's Articles:
My Shell badge obsession started three years ago. Since then I have added close to 30 items to my Shell collection. Interestingly, the first ones were fairly easy to obtain, but suddenly my finds slowed down to a trickle, even though my search intensified. In the past year I’ve only been able to add four or five items, mainly due to already having the ones I was being offered, poor condition, or just a style that didn’t appeal to me. I expect to find just one or two this year, but you never know.
