Rob Wolfe is a well-known antiques collector who is one of the hosts of the American Pickers TV show, where he entertains viewers with his vast knowledge of old cars, vintage advertising, rare neon signs, and other collectibles. A born treasure hunter, for the past 36 years Rob has had an unmatched ability to dig up some of the most precious items from our country’s history. Rob developed his love of cars and collectibles as a child, frequenting swap meets, junkyards and more. When he couldn’t afford his first bike or car, he found old abandoned ones and fixed them. At the age of 16 it was a purple 1972 Chrysler Newport, and at 18 it was a 1969 BMW 1600. Today Rob focuses his collecting expertise on vintage cars, motorcycles and rare collectibles with an emphasis on automotive memorabilia. [email protected]

Early 1900s "Pop’s Auto Service" smaltz sign
“Horseless Carriages and Contraptions Fixed” I found this 40"x32" smaltz (sand/glass-textured) sign in the attic of an old garage in New Hampshire that was to be torn down. It’s a treasure harking back to a time in America at the beginning of the automobile era, when servicing automobiles was just beginning to be an industry. The cars of that era were one- or two-cylinder automobiles, and they were called horseless carriages. |
