Logan Gray - Guest Columnist - Vintage Auto Books
Logan was introduced to sports cars and racing in his youth when his parents took him to the races at Pebble Beach and Golden Gate Park. The hook was set. Fast forward to 1980 when he and two partners, (one was Dale LaFollette) formed Vintage Motorbooks, which at the time became the leading used automotive book dealer in the USA. In 1998 Logan bought out his partners, and in 2008 retired from his “real job” in the truck parts industry. Today he resides in Portland Oregon with his wife and six Volkswagens, and sells at about 20 events in the Pacific Northwest along with online sales.

Today's "Golden Era": Issue #4 Mar/Apr 2019
My line of thought for this article stems from a comment made by a recent caller….. “good books are not being published anymore.” Nothing could be further from the truth. The problem my friends is with distribution! Sometimes we look back in time at what we perceive to be the “Golden Era” without giving credit to the present. Today is truly a “Golden Era” in book publishing. On both sides of the Atlantic, fine books of the highest quality in content and presentation are being published on unexpected, but worthy subjects. Dalton Watson, Coachbuilt Press, David Bull, ETAI, and others to name a few have brought us many fine offerings, though the biggest surprises have been from individuals self-publishing exceptional books on their specialty. |
