Kyle and Steve Johnson - Original Signs and Reproductions Column
Our family collected old signs and antiques for as long as we can remember making our obsession with old gas signs fairly natural!
32 years ago I purchased an original Texaco Petrox pump sign. I went on to buy every old gas sign I could afford.
The hunt was as much fun as the purchase, and the collection grew. I’m a purist and never considered buying a reproduction sign. This all changed in 2005 when many prices went beyond affordable.
Pictured is an original Washington Chief Gasoline sign valued anywhere from $20,000 to $75,000. Our reproduction company came about to make signs like these affordable as prices skyrocketed so high on the originals.
